FAQ
Here are some of the most common questions we get about our services.
-
Active Livestream Production is what we call the way we approach livestreaming. We mix professional broadcast with content creator livestreaming, meaning you get a show that looks, sounds, and feels professional while still promoting audience interaction and engagement. This means grandma who is in another country can make a speech at your wedding, the audience can vote on who should win the cosplay competition, guests can control robotic cameras to look around the venue, and more. It’s not just sending a video feed into the void - it’s bringing more people to the event.

We can work with you to deliver livestreams in multiple ways. The most common ways include:
Streaming to your own public Twitch/YouTube/Facebook/etc channel
Streaming on any of the CKE.live public Twitch/YouTube/etc channels
Streaming to a paywalled site of your choice such as Vimeo or Dacast where you collect a fee for viewers to watch
Stream to Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, or any other meeting platform
If you have your own RTMP or SRT ingest server, we can send a feed there
Set up a dedicated event page at CKE.live where your viewers need to enter a password to view the stream.
There are many more options, and we will help choose the right one for you based on your event type and your guests.

Yes! We can stream to multiple platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and a private viewing page simultaneously.

Typically we stream at 1080p as that is what the majority of viewers can comfortably watch. Although we can stream at 4K60fps, bumping from 1080p to 4K requires substantially more expensive equipment to be utilized, requires a much faster internet connection, and many viewers (depending on the type of event and viewer base) may not even be able to watch in 4K. For the most part, we suggest sticking with a well optimized 1080p stream. We make lots of technical adjustments on our end to ensure that your event comes through nice a clear at 1080p, from adjusting bitrates and keyframes to switching codecs and encoders to adjusting framerates to match the feel of your event. For example, a wedding will look much crisper and be smoother at a more cinematic 24fps or 30fps, while sports and esports really benefit from higher framerates like 60fps.
The trick is more about knowing how to balance the technical details with the event being captured and the type of viewers than just throwing it out at 4K and hoping it all goes well.

There is not a one-size fits all solution to livestreaming events. It can vary based on many factors including type of event, target audience, size of event, number of cameras, complexity of event, how many days of coverage, and so much more. That’s why we provide personalized quotes after talking to you about your event, your vision, and your needs. But…you didn’t come here for a wishy-washy answer, so for a small 1-2 day event that only needs one staff member and 1 or 2 cameras and no coordination with any other production teams, you’d probably want to budget around $2,000 CAD – $5,000 CAD (plus travel and accommodations if your event is outside of the regular service area). This would include pre-event setup and coordination with you and your team. Large multi-day events with a dozen cameras and a full crew while coordinating with multiple other production teams can run in the range of $25,000 - $50,000 CAD. It all depends on your needs, which we can discuss in a quick call

Simply put, decreasing the complexity is the only real way to reduce cost. That may mean that there is less equipment like cameras utilized which in turn reduces the number of staff required. At CKE.live, we WILL NOT compromise on quality to to reduce cost. If we cannot meet your budget by simply reducing our scope, we can work with you to help secure livestream sponsors for your event
-
We help you formulate a strategy to attract sponsors to fund the livestream. There is no guarantee that sponsors will cover your specific event, but we can help you get the best shot at it. We use our industry contacts to reach out to brands that may be interested in participating in your event plus formulate plans to approach your existing exhibitors and vendors. From there, we prepare a list of activations that we believe have the greatest chance of attracting sponsors. This often includes generic activations such as logo placement and ad rolls, but can even lead to negotiations like where booth space is offered at no cost to the sponsor in exchange for funding the livestream or doing vendor/exhibitor interviews, meaning we can help minimize how much you are out of pocket.
-
Just like asking how much livestreaming an event will cost, there are many variables such as if sponsors have another event around the same time, if they’ve already allocated their event budget, how established your event is, how much of your demographic overlaps with theirs, and so much more. That being said, nobody likes hearing “that depends”, so for example if you have an established gaming event and we start sponsor outreach early enough, it’s not unreasonable to expect that sponsors could cover 50% or more of the livestream production costs.

The more time we have to work with you, the more we can refine the service. Generally we don’t book more than 1 year out, but give us as much time as possible so we can at least lock in the date for you. What we do not like to do is rush last-minute events. We can do them, we just don’t like to leave things to the last minute - that increases the chances of something being missed.
-
Ideally, yes. To help keep costs down we suggest working directly with the venue to provide hardwired internet for better speeds and reliability. Although hardwired internet provided at the venue is preferred, we can sometimes work with private WiFi networks (stability and speed must be verified), or we can bring our own connectivity solutions such as bonded cellular or satellite for a fee. We can literally broadcast from a remote mountain peak if you want.
-
Yes, in multiple ways. Generally most platforms we will stream to offer a Video on Demand (VOD) system where you can watch the stream back, but that’s limited to broadcast quality. We also do a local recording in very high quality that can be delivered to you for editing and clipping.

Although livestreaming events really took off out of necessity during the COVID pandemic, we’ve been at it since well before that. CKE.live as a company technically has only been doing livestream production since 2022, but the Founder and Main Producer “CrashKoeck” has been in the livestream industry since 2015 and over those years has built a name and reputation within both the Content Creator and Professional Livestream industries as an innovator and as someone who provides amazing production value. His experiences in both the Creator and Professional spaces has enabled him to merge them for the absolute best livestreaming experiences possible.

Aside from livestreaming, the Founder and Main Producer “CrashKoeck” has been a construction project manager for over 15 years, successfully completing large projects worth over $100,000,000 with crews of hundreds working under him as well as specialized and complex projects like completely renovating a large hospital laboratory during the height of COVID while keeping it fully operational. He applies his advanced problem solving and planning skills to every event to ensure that it goes off without a hitch.
